Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee and manage the engineering projects and processes essential with rotational molding.
- Review/oversee/develop tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Work collaboratively with operations and manufacturing personnel.
- Review, refine and develop processes for project management, maintenance, BOM updates and engineering training.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and procedures by studying current product manufacturing methods, determining root cause corrective action plans, and successfully implementing solutions to the floor.
- Draft and design plant layout visions in AutoCAD presenting equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate lean manufacturing product flow.
- Provide concept designs, prototypes, and pre-production samples for development testing.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the design and development of new rotationally molded products and processes.
- Manage and support the implementation of new equipment and technology to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with quality control, engineering, and other departments to ensure that products meet quality and safety standards.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
- Conduct cost analysis and make recommendations for cost savings and process improvements.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and progress.
- Mentor and train junior team members to develop their skills and knowledge.
Manufacturing Engineer Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Rotational molding and/or blow molding plastic manufacturing experience.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, and proven ability to implement lean tools.
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma DMAIC strategy used to improve, optimize, and stabilize manufacturing processes and designs.
- Possess strong ME and IE skill sets that will be utilize in value stream transformations.
- Technical expertise reading 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
- Communication skills that allow for participation in customer meetings and team projects.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools.
- A degree in plastics engineering is a plus.
